PrintOS making headway in APJ

More than 500 presses at over 300 customer sites are now connected to PrintOS, with PrintOS applications already helping customers increase daily print volumes and improve press performance. PrintOS is HP's cloud-based operating system available on Indigo and PageWide Web presses. The technology is expected to extend out to the Scitex and Latex platforms.

HP added that customers in Asia Pacific and Japan include Shanghai Eastnet Print and Shanghai Linyeah Digital Printing Co., Ltd. in China and several more across Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.

“Even at the show, we have a lot of customers from the APJ region, who want to be the beta testers and get involved in this technology,” said Michael Boyle, APJ vice president & general manager for HP Indigo and PageWide Web.

“The important thing with PrintOS is that we are getting the basics right to start with, and we’ll continue expanding as we get the feedback on it. The nice thing about being cloud-based is that we can roll out an update in an instant,” Boyle continued.

“One joke that I often make is that even I understand what it does and how it works, and that’s the thing about software,” added Boyle. “Often software becomes so complex that you lose people before you even begin. Whereas with PrintOS I can sit with the business owner, the production manager, the design partner, and we are able to talk about how the platform is helping them in their overall workflow.”
