July 22, 2016

With the support of 40 photographers of the Facebook group ‘Asian Passion for Imaging’ and Bob Endert of Canon Singapore, a unique photobook has been produced to raise funds for A New Vision’s next Cataract Surgical outreach scheduled for September 2016.

The charity photobook titled ‘A New Vision on Asia’ was launched at Canon Singapore’s headquarters on 7 July 2016.

The photobook project supports A New Vision, a charitable organization that specialises in facilitating cataract blindness operations in East Java, Indonesia.

The fundraising initiative aims to raise sufficient funds to pay for 500 operations.

Every donation of $100 to A New Vision helps pay for a 10-minute cataract operation. As a token of appreciation, each sponsor will be presented with a high definition photobook of images of Asia, which were contributed by forty talented photographers.

The printing of the photobooks will be done on the high definition photo printer, the Canon DreamLabo 5000.

The printing of the photobooks is sponsored by two companies: FotoHub Singapore and Seyacolor in Sri Lanka. FotoHub Singapore was the first company in Singapore to install the Canon DreamLabo 5000.

The DreamLabo is Canon’s flagship press for high definition production photo printing, offering a higher industry standard of 2400 x 1200 dpi print resolution. It features a newly developed high-density print head, enabling over 300 mm wide printing output.

Incorporating Canon’s FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology, the print head enables the printing of high-quality photos and detailed text to support a variety of high-value-added output, from premium photobooks, photo calendars, photo collages and other merchandise to high-quality POD items, such as bespoke brochures.

The wide print head delivers high-speed One-Pass printing, requiring only a single pass of the printing paper while the print head remains in a fixed position. When used in combination with the automatic Double-sided printing function up to 12×25’size, the DreamLabo 5000 is capable of printing approximately 1000 pages of A4 size content. The DreamLabo uses a seven-colour dye-based ink system that delivers smooth gradation.

Each sale of the high quality photobook supports one cataract operation. To contribute to the cause, visit: Photobook donation page
