Konica Minolta Opens Doors to Customer Engagement Centre in Singapore

July 7, 2017

The flagship centre and showroom aims to serve the regional growing needs of industrial printing market.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia (BSA) announced the opening of its Customer Engagement Centre (CEC) at Techlink Singapore, 31 Kaki Bukit Road. The 5,600-square foot centre is a strategic investment to drive the company's industrial printing business in Southeast Asia.

The new CEC will have facilities that aim to provide value added services for customers to meet market demands of the industrial printing. The centre will showcase latest digital print technologies and customers will be able to test and view the versatility of the print applications. Customers can do print applications with digital solution like decorative embellishments, labels and digital metallic colours on print applications such as book jackets, direct mails, cards and others.

Industrial printing market is fast changing. Digital technologies and innovation are now driven by high-mix, small-lot production that meet market demands for low print run achieved in a shorter lead time giving variable results and a higher value. There are also new digital processes such as varnishing, foil stamping, glitter, and holographic effects which can be achieved in much shorter production delivery times.

“The industrial printing market is estimated at USD$450 billion globally, and Asia is one of the world's fastest growing markets. Being a digital company, Konica Minolta aims to deliver new value to the industrial printing industry and will be working with customers to help them explore opportunities and boost their revenue through higher value print services by being closer to customers in this region,” said Tadyuki Funakura, managing director of Konica Minolta BSA.

The event also served as a launchpad for the MGI Meteor Unlimited Colors press and roll to roll label printer bizhub c71cf. The new machines were on demo, along with the MGI JetVarnish 3DS with iFoil S, which was first launched to the region in the beginning of 2016.

Konica Minolta BSA announced the availability of the MGI Meteor Unlimited Colors series. First launched at drupa 2016, the series features MGI Meteor digital presses fully integrated with the iFOIL module to create inline printing and foiling solutions.

By blending CMYK toner and the reflective qualities of the foil, the press is able to produce a wide array of colours, including a rainbow spectrum of shades with metallic, glitter and holographic effects.

In addition, the bizhub Press C71cf, Konica Minolta’s first roll-to-roll machine for the label industry, is now available to the region. The digital press targets label printers who are looking to shift volumes from offset to digital to meet demands for shorter run lengths, faster delivery times, personalisation and multiple SKUs.

The bizhub Press C71cf utilises dry toner and does not require pre-coating of substrates. Print substrates include pressure-sensitive paper in gloss, semi-gloss or matte finishes to wine stocks, white BOPP, PET and polypropylene. The press prints full CMYK colour, at 1200dpi x 1200dpi and supports a maximum paper width of 320mm. The machine prints at speeds up to 13.5m/min.
