The fourth edition of Xeikon Café was attended by a record number of visitors from Asia Pacific; dates for 2019 are confirmed.
Over four days, 830 international visitors from 40 different countries, mainly from Europe, Asia, and Australia attended Xeikon Café 2018. According to the company, the event logged a record number of unique visitors.
“The Xeikon Café 2018 experienced the largest number of participants from Asia Pacific ranging from Australia in the East, to India in the West. The participants experienced the latest developments both within dry toner and inkjet technology from Xeikon, in addition to a wide range of products and and solutions from almost 40 of our Aura Partners,” said Bent Serritslev, general manager Asia, Xeikon.
The organisation also announced that next year’s Xeikon Café event has been confirmed and will run again in Belgium from 26 to 29 2019.
A Xeikon Café fixture were the live production of over 40 different applications and technology showcase from industry suppliers: “A total of eight different presses were running a variety of applications integrating various components from our Aura Partners, such as self-adhesive labels in toner and inkjet as plus label inserts, heat transfer labels, in-mould labels, folding cartons and paper cup production,” said Serritslev.
“The two product highlights at the show were clearly the PX3000 press from our Panther inkjet series performing top of the range labels and the new CX500, toner press, with a web width of 520mm and runs at top speeds 30 meters per minute.”
The PX3000 UV inkjet press is based on Panther technology, which was first launched at the last Xeikon Café 2017. The CX500 wide web digital press was first introduced at Labelexpo late last year. It is the latest wide web digital label press addition to Xeikon’s Cheetah dry toner series.
Prakash Patel from Javcorp in India found Xeikon Café useful: “Digital printing in India is quite different from Europe. It has only really been growing for the past three years so there is a lot to see and learn. I am here to look at everything and see what knowledge I can take back.”
Academy and Conference Programme
This year’s Xeikon Café introduced the well-attended educational Academy programme with over 15 interactive workshops and technology-driven Tech Talks. The tracks covered useful insights in current and future hot industry topics and decoration techniques.
“There were also very high quality presenters not just externally for industry development at large, but also the "How To Do?" workshops. The programs were very well attended and received,” added Serritslev.
Highlights of the Conference programme included an inspiring look at the future and how innovation is much like making moonshine with keynote speaker Andrew Vorster. Johan Van de Velde from AB-InBev talked about enhancing customer relations through digital printing, Niko Dhondt from Altrif Label outlined how digital print has driven successful label innovation and Patrick Poitevin from Mondelēz International detailed current and next-generation printing technologies.
The question of how to balance dry toner and inkjet was addressed by Carsten Stahl Hansen from Limo Labels; Lisa Sohanpal from Nom Noms World Food shared her brand’s design journey and Giuseppe Prioriello talked about his unique web-to-print packaging solution, Packly.
Xeikon Café is a unique event that sets out to facilitate technology, knowledge and information sharing in digital production in a relaxed environment.
“The Xeikon Café has become almost a fixture in the digital label industry for knowledge sharing, education and networking seeing about half of the attendance from Xeikon customers and the other half from converters exploring entry into digital label and/or folding carton production,” said Serritslev.
“The contents continues to evolve and has gradually transformed from an ‘exhibition’ type of event to a forum for exchange of business practices, know-how and networking in addition to still providing a display and demo platform for Xeikon and our valuable partners.”
