HP launches first hybrid rigid and flexible latex printer
The HP Latex R2000 Printer was unveiled at Dscoop Asia-Pacific 2018.

At Dscoop Asia-Pacific 2018, HP Inc. unveiled the HP Latex R2000 Printer, the first hybrid solution for rigid and flexible sign and display printing in one device. The printer is the first in the R-series, which incorporates HP’s new Rigid Technology.
“After 10 years of Latex, we are moving into rigid and flexible latex printing, all in one unit,” said Michael Boyle in a media briefing. “It offers a consistency in quality between the two media. Brand owners are excited because they can now give the same quality of print on both rigid and flexible media.”
The printer is aimed at the rigid target market, especially in sign and display, decoration, internal space events and exhibitions, and outdoor signage.
According to Boyle, the HP Scitex range will still be retained, as it offers a much faster turn around than the new R-series. Compared to the HP Scitex, the R-series will be a slower, but more premium quality solution.
The printer is able to print 2.5 metres in width and up to 5 cm of thickness in media.
It utilises a new ink set – the HP Latex White Ink. The ink touted as a true white that is able to deliver the glossiest white on both transparent and coloured media. The white ink is resistant to yellowing, staying true to the white for a long period of time, even under exposure to sunlight.
