Fuji Xerox Announces Winners of PIXI Awards 2019

January 28, 2020

Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte Ltd unveils winners of its 12th PIXI (Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging) Awards. The annual competition recognises innovation and excellence in digitally-printed products from Fuji Xerox customers across the region.

This year, the competition received 248 entries that were entered into 24 categories that cover digital print. The participants came from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Over three days, an independent panel of expert judges not associated with Fuji Xerox closely examined the entries. The judges were publisher and chairperson of the Asian Print Awards, Paul Callaghan, and print industry veterans Major Wong Wing Kwong and Paul Hornsby. Key judging criteria includes print quality, innovation, the appropriate use of digital technology, business effectiveness, and the overall aesthetics of the entry in selecting each category winners.

“We are seeing that the use of special colours like Gold, Silver and Metallic are now commonplace in the competition, and the way in which companies are using these to enhance the work they print is truly amazing,” commented Paul Callaghan, head of the 2019 PIXI Awards judge panel. “What we see today in the work being judged is something only a few years back was almost considered impossible, so as technology continues to advance, it’s anyone’s guess what we will be looking at for judging in the years ahead.”

The judges awarded “Best in Show” to Australia’s Intertype for their self-promotion entry. The company submitted an entry titled “Designer Education Kit” for graphic designers to understand the basics of designing with metallic colours, as well as advanced design training for more experienced designers. Intertype used the Fuji Xerox Iridesse™ Production Press to print all components of the piece.

“Out of all the categories that were judged, the Best in Show is a true reflection of every other category, that makes it an all-round for best use of digital technology. It really is an eye opener just how far this company has gone,” Callaghan added. “This is a brilliant performance from customers and it proves that Iridesse™ Production Press is an award-winning press!”

Out of the 43 winners in total; 22 winners and 21 runners-up in all categories, 31 award-winning applications were produced by the Iridesse™ Production Press.

All winning entries of PIXI 2019, except from Australia and New Zealand, will be automatically entered into the 2020 Asian Print Awards.
