Konica Minolta’s China site achieves 100% renewable electricity

Konica Minolta, Inc. announced that one of its MFP production sites in China, Konica Minolta Business Technologies (WUXI) Co., Ltd. (BMWX) in Jiangsu province, has achieved its goal of procuring 100% of the electricity it uses from renewable sources.

A manufacturer of Konica Minolta’s main products, multi-functional peripherals (MFPs) and digital printing systems, BMWX was certified as a Clean Production Company by Wuxi City in 2017, making the company a leader in environmental stewardship in China.

This is Konica Minolta’s second production site to achieve the goal. The first site is another MFP production site in China, Konica Minolta Business Technologies (DONGGUAN) Co., Ltd., which achieved the goal in January 2019.

BMWX installed a solar power generation system, covering an area of 25,000 m2 and with a generating capacity of 1.7 MW, on January 1, 2020, enabling the company to procure approx. 16% of its electricity requirement from solar power.

Starting from 1 January 2020, BMWX shifted to green power certified sources to meet the rest of its electricity needs, thus procuring 100% of its electricity from renewable sources.

In January 2019, Konica Minolta joined RE100, a global leadership initiative bringing together companies committed to sourcing 100% renewable power for their business operations, and has since been striving to achieve this goal by 2050.
