The home décor marketplace has a global value of almost $664 billion dollars at full retail value. Industry experts predict the market to grow 5% annually through to 2023-2024. Over the last decade, digital printing has begun to have a direct impact in interior décor.
Applications for digital printing is wide-ranging; wall coverings, floor graphics, curtains, carpets, lamp heads, furniture covers, window graphics – essentially anything in the home can be printed.
Benefits of digitally printed interior décor include virtually an unlimited range of designs, personalised production no matter the quantity, cost-efficient one-off or small scale printing, high quality prints with no colour limitations, reduction in waste and inventory and quick turnaround times and time-to-market.
We source out some of the top printers to have recently emerged in the industry.
Canon Océ Colorado 1650
The Canon Océ Colorado 1650 printer is a roll-to-roll large format device that features two innovations in the form of a new flexible Canon UVgel ink, and Océ FLXfinish technology. The Océ FLXfinish technology is a new approach to LED curing which allows the user to choose between matte or gloss modes for each individual print. This feature allows PSPs to easily achieve different aesthetic finishes at the push of a button, with just one printer and without switching media or inks. A gloss finish gives visual impact to applications such as banners and posters, while a matte appearance is particularly appealing for high quality indoor applications viewed in artificial light, such as wall coverings or premium in-store POS materials.

The 3.4-metre super wide aqueous-based soft signage printer features EFI’s platen and extraction technology system that enables product to be sublimated inline. The inline sublimation can be turned off and paper transfer can be leveraged if off-line sublimation becomes available.
The VUTEk FabriVU 340i delivers four-colour printing, ultra-high resolution up to 2,400 dpi and four level greyscale printing at production speeds up to 250 m2 per hour. It is ideal for the production of wall coverings, furnishings, flags, banners, backlit displays, and other high-end display graphics.

Mouvent, Bobst’s digital printing arm, unveiled its textile machine, the TX802, in June 2019. The TX802 builds on the success of Mouvent’s inaugural digital textile printer, the TX801. TX802 is an eight-colour multi-pass digital textile printer with up to 2,000 dpi optical resolution, and high printing speeds of up to 100 linear m/min. It utilises Mouvent Cluster digital printing technology, which uses clusters instead of fixed size print bars by colour, arranging them in a modular, scalable matrix. The result is that one system can be adapted for all substrates, of all widths, for all markets.
