Koenig & Bauer LIVE - stable post-corona, digitalisation, optimistic drupa 2021
Koenig & Bauer online drupa sessions now live.
Koenig & Bauer CEO Klaus Bolza-Schünemann with host Sven
Since 16 June 2020, Koenig & Bauer has kicked off a series of online shows every original drupa 2020 day.
The last ones in the last quarters. And there are many many innovations from our business units and, to be quite honest, it would have been difficult to show all of this, during the show in Dusseldorf and therefore we are delighted to give you a glance into our business units within the next consecutive 10 days.
CEO Klaus Bolza-Schünemann opened his presentation addressing the COVID-19 situation.
“Of course, COVID-19 has really hit not only our company hard but also to our customers all over the world. First of all, the health of our employees and our customers had the highest priority,"
Another priority is the support to its customers and ensuring their products and production will be stable through these difficult times.
“We were quite lucky since all our machines and products from Koenig & Bauer are produced in Europe, and our supply chains have been stable. We have been hit quite a bit mainly in Italy, and we are really happy that we are fairly back on normal track there,” Bolza-Schünemann continued.
“And last but not least, since we are very strong in the packaging industry, serving our customers who are producing a printing for the food and beverage and the pharmaceutical industry is a priority. The bank note business is declared as system relevant and therefore, it was easier for us and for many other companies,” said Bolza-Schünemann.
During the COVID-19 crisis, we've enhanced our service for you, or valued customers.
New Customer Experience Centre in Radebeul
Koenig & Bauer’s board member Ralf Sammeck gave an update on the company’s 3,000 sqm centre in Radebeul.
“The idea is we want to be your first choice, and not only for printing presses, also for postpress. So at our Customer Experience Center for packaging, we can show you the whole line of production, from printing to die cutting to gluing. And with our workflow solution we can show you also how transparent our workflow is and how much more productivity you can get out of our Koenig and Bauer machines,” said Sammeck.
Some machinery that is at the centre includes the brand new Rapida 76, Rapida 145, and the Rapida RDC 106, a press for the folding carton industry that is a hybrid and digital machine.
Sammeck highlighted digitalization on the 22 June broadcast.
“We would love to make your production lines more transparent so that you really get all the important data out of your productions. And with all these data we can offer to you several service offerings,” said Sammeck.
“For example, with our customer community platform, you can get benchmarking, production reports and productivity reports. With all this, we will be able to give you the best support to make you more profitable, and more productive,”
“With the extended hotline service we are offering a visual press support. We can show you -out of the office – what to do to repair a machine to make sure that your productivity will go up and you will be even more successful.”
Trade fairs will resume and continue
Koenig & Bauer will be presenting at drupa 2021 on a 4,500 sqm booth, alongside its joint venture company with Durst, Koenig & Bauer Durst.
“What will happen after COVID-19, who knows, we cannot estimate. Certainly, the fairs will become a new outfit, maybe more digital virtual or augmented reality,” said Bolza-Schünemann.
“But I'm a firm believer that personal contact between customers and suppliers is absolutely essential. Besides digital, we all need physical things in the world and physical products and this is a driver for the industry of our customers,” Bolza-Schünemann continued.
“Therefore I'm convinced that drupa 2021 will be a success and the postponed drupa was fully booked with a waiting list, and yes, one or the other vendor has postponed its participation for 2021. But the waiting list is long and therefore I'm convinced that drupa 2021 will also be successful like in the past,” said Bolza-Schünemann, who is chairmain on the drupa board.
So far, Bobst is a vendor that has officially announced that it will not be participating in drupa 2021.
Koenig & Bauer online drupa sessions will run every consecutive weekday from June 16 to 25. Each session lasts 20 minutes. The English sessions will start at 4.00 pm or 10.00 pm, in Singapore time.
