German press manufacturer Manroland Sheetfed GmbH has announced its drupa 2021 cancellation.
Manroland joins industry key players, Bobst, Xerox, Heidelberg and most recently, Komori, in a list of exhibitors that has dropped out of the 2021 edition of drupa.
“Exhibiting at Drupa, or any other trade fair for that matter, makes absolutely no sense during the current COVID-19 pandemic,” said Rafael Peñuela-Torres, Manroland’s group managing director. “It’s regrettable, as we would have been exhibiting with live demonstrations of both our recently launched Roland 900 Evolution press, and the new Roland 700 Evolution Elite. But unfortunately, it’s just not practical in the current circumstances. Instead we’ll be holding a series of live webinars in the fall.”
Drupa was slated to occur in June 2020, but was postponed to April 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As travel bans lift, drupa organisers Messe Dusseldorf is expecting its first exhibition in September to kickstart, and released a comprehensive health and safety guideline on how it will be handling trade fairs.
Meanwhile, Koenig & Bauer reaffirms its participation in drupa 2021.
