Pringles trials new recyclable packaging
Pringles is trialling a new paper packaging, in collaboration with UK retailer Tesco. The snack has a new recyclable paper tube. According to the Kellogg-owned brand, the packaging forms part of its commitment to ensuring all of its packaging is 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable by the end of 2025.
The current tube used is made from a combination of foil, paper board, metal and plastic. This makes it difficult to recycle through household recycling channels. However, the new paper tube is made from recycled paper and can be easily recycled through home channels. The new can is supposedly widely recyclable, but is still able to protect the chips while keeping them fresh.
If the trial is successful, Kellogg has suggested that it could introduce the new paper packaging across Europe.
