European live conventions back on track

Over two days, around 800 participants visited the fourth edition of Print & Digital Convention, organised by the Fachverband Medienproduktion (f:mp.) and Messe Düsseldorf.

Recently, Fespa Global concluded its in-person live event in Amsterdam.

Although a smaller event compared to previous years, organisers deemed the event a successful relaunch in Covid-19 times.

Due to the pandemic, the congress trade fair was smaller compared to the previous event in 2019 (94 exhibitors/1,287 participants), and the exhibition space was also smaller at over 800 net sqm compared to 2019 (1,360 net sqm).

Despite all the pandemic-related restrictions, organisers reported around 800 international participants from Europe, namely Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Amongst the 64 exhibiting companies were numerous international companies including Landa, Canon, Esko, HP, Kodak and Konica Minolta. 24 companies were first-time exhibitors.

"We are very happy about this result and the successful re-launch in the still ongoing covid crisis," said Rüdiger Maaß, Managing Director of f:mp. "We are confident that we will be able to realise our full potential again in 2022. About 40 companies that cancelled for 2021 due to corona have already promised their participation for 2022."

"With its eight theme worlds and impressive conference and workshop programme, the Print & Digital Convention has once again proven that it is an important content hub for the industry," said Sabine Geldermann, Director Print Technologies Messe Düsseldorf. "This is where active, highly relevant knowledge transfer takes place and the current and future trends of the industry are highlighted."

The convention will be held annually until drupa 2024, which is expected to run again from 28 May to 7 June 2024.
